The new issue of “Máquinas e Metais” digital is online. The article “Algorithm predicts the real machining time on CNC machines”, on page 14, identifies errors in obtaining machining time estimates and presents an algorithm developed by Brazilian researchers to predict the real machining time of complex shapes, for any CNC machine configuration. See on page 20 the article “Analysis of the hardness of Ni-Ti wires with shape memory and cold-rolled”, work that deals with the hardness of a metal alloy with shape-memory effect processed by cold-rolling. Two samples of an equiatomic Ni-Ti wire were cold rolled under different thermal conditions and submitted to the Vickers microhardness test, to evaluate hardness gains. Thermal characterization by differential scanning calorimetry proved that the shape memory effect was maintained at maximum reductions. And on pg. 26, the article “Parameters of helical milling and their effects on the quality of holes in ABNT 4340 steel”, whose main objective is to carry out an experimental study on the quality of holes produced in low alloy steel ABNT 4340 in the annealed state through the operation of helical milling. The results showed that the cutting speed and feed were the most influential parameters on the roughness and the ones with the greatest impact on the roundness and cylindricity of the holes. This issue also brings the update “Cylindrical grinding machines”, “Microdrills and micromills” and “EDM – consumables and accessories” buyers’ guides.
