Highlights

The June issue of Hydro is online. “Directory and yearbook of the Brazilian basic sanitation sector” is highlighted on page 30, showing that, if it is still not moving at the necessary pace, sanitation in Brazil at least seems to be at the moment taking important steps to find the way towards the universalization of water and sewage services. We also publish a list of service providers operating in Brazil with indicators of their water and sewage operations. See on page 12 the article “Polymer powder for conditioning sludge”, which shows that, although it has a higher initial cost, the powder polymer preparer for sludge conditioning, in relation to the emulsion polymer, presents technical and economic advantages over time. And on page 20 the article “Use of ion exchange resin for water quality”, where the main theme is the application of ion exchange resin for the removal of hexavalent chromium, showing two cases in which the technology was applied. This issue brings also the update “Fire protection engineering” and “Filtration systems” buyers’ guides.
