Highlights

The December issue of “Plástico Industrial” is online. The article “PE fibers promoting fracture strength of reinforced compounds”, on page 14, shows a method of producing carbon fiber composites that allows light and very strong parts to be obtained for heavy duty applications. See on page 34 the article “Optimized plastification and adhesion in the extrusion of plastic and metal”, showing that the simultaneous processing of plastic and metal allows the creation of hybrid structures, very recommended in the so-called light construction, which even includes the making of tooling for the metalworking industry. Read on page 40, in the special chapter “O plástico na embalagem” (plastics application in the package industry), the report “Starch and blueberry waste, potential packaging materials”, on a project consisting of the preparation of polymer films from the use of starch and blueberry, expanding the range of possibilities in the production of packaging biodegradable active. This issue brings also the update “Thermoplastic resins”, “Resin dryers” and “Cooling towers” buyers’ guides.
