Highlights

The September issue of “Plástico Industrial” is online. The article “Extrusion dies produced by additive manufacturing”, on page 14, shows that the use of 3D printing makes it feasible to perform extrusion die designs unreachable by conventional techniques. It allows, for example, integrating mixing elements into the flow channel, which improves the homogeneity of the resin. See on page 38, the report “Lid Recycling creates business opportunities and opens space for social programs”, showing that the plastics processing chain is increasingly integrated with waste collection and marketing programs, with the participation of entities that act in environmental education and animal protection. Read on page 48, in the special chapter “O plástico na embalagem” (plastics application in the package industry), the article “3D Printing accelerates and simplifies the development of new projects”, showing that a manufacturer of rigid packaging, tubes and pumps for cosmetics has recently acquired 3D printers primarily for prototyping its products. The results have already been noted by the increased efficiency and assertiveness of the projects, as well as the reduction of costs and deadlines. This issue brings also the update “Chillers”, “Additives and fillers” and “Materials handling” buyers’ guides.
